Two categories for favorite encore:

A. You were there

B. On tape

Mine:

A. Alpine Valley 7-19-89- Lovelite, unusual, unexpected, and over the top fun way to end an excellent stint. Superb performance by the boys.

B. (Today anyway) - 2-20-82 - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue- A perfect a piece of music, every note of every instrument- perfection. BTW-the first set of this night features amazing versions of CC Rider, Jed, LIG, TLEO, etc. A fine show, highly recommended.

A. Attics 10-9-89

Totally unexpected. My friend and I thought it sounded like Brokedown as they tuned up, but even before they started we knew it wasn't.

The double encore of Black Muddy River> Box of Rain from the last show was the best encore that I saw them do live...

Dark Star from 07-13-1984, Attics from 10-09-1989, Ripple 09-03-1988 are my three favorite for right now "on tape"...

ROMICS:

A.) That "Baby Blue" from San Diego (1982-02-20)

B.) "Revolution" - almost of all of them; Lake Placid ('83) and Landover ('90) are just two examples

Not Fade Away
Red Rocks, don't remember the exact year, however I was there.
Did Red Rocks invent the "chant"? It sure seemed like we did.
They did nfa, we chanted, they did more nfa, we all did nfa down that bitch of a ramp to the parking lot. We did nfa in the parking lot. As the cars drove off people did nfa. I remember us in the car doing nfa. Other cars did nfa as people beat on the roofs or whatever they they could find. I woke up in the morning doing nfa.

10/20/78 E:Johny B Goode> Shakedown Street

Dont care for Johny, but Shakedown as an Encore is very cool. Not an amazing version, just unique. Also this run of shows seems to be underrated. And the entire run is downloadable from nugs. 10/21 is a very good show, Dick says the Stella is the best. And he says its perhaps the most exciting show on the west coast since the 60's. He also says the same about The Other One.
